Cake or Death? Cake, please!

Ok, so we are trying out cake recipes for the wedding cake(s). First one up is Sarah's cousin Kate's Lemon cake, which came highly recommended.

The recipe called for a ring tin (the one with the hole in the middle), which we don't have, but I figured that if we placed a tin can in the middle, it should work just as well. Quite clever, but next time I'll need to weigh it down because tin cans will eventually float in a cake mixture. D:

So the result looks a bit wonky (well, that's what white cake icing is for) but it tastes ok. We're going to feed it to some Spanish friends today to get some feedback.
