Ehem, Research: Teannaich the Ceilidh Band
The band that we are having at the reception plays a ceilidh most months at South Hall. Tickets tend to sell out for good reason.
The caller makes sure everyone who wants to has people to dance with, (unless he's feeling perverse) he makes sure you know what to do, and the group mixes up the traditional music with snippets of tunes from Star Wars, Mission Impossible, Saturday Night Fever, Teletubbies, The Darkness and the like. We danced every single dance from 8:30ish to midnight and, two days on, are feeling the pain.
Our number one tip: stretch.
There are quite a few ceilidh circuit regulars. This dude (James?) gives the ladies a proper swing- it's not just a clever t-shirt.
We'll definitely be at the next one in June (so Rea can come too) and Ceilidh Mike told us about this one held during the summer in the Linlithgow Palace courtyard (a 20 minute train ride outside Edinburgh). :D!
