Bunting Making is Under Way

on Fri, 08/03/2012 - 09:59

OMG! Is it August already? The celebrations are going to be next month, so things are starting to heat up (the sewing machine pedal actually began to smell like burning, so we gave it a rest for a day or so).

I hope you've all got your bunting in the post because the sewing machine is starting it's thing. (Although we've still not quite got the sewing machine to behave itself .. so, you can get your bunting in if you send it off now).

Here's Sarah getting started.  See if you can spot Stella, the beautiful, beautiful otter-face kitten who just wanted to be snuggled and loved and had no interest in bunting whatsoever (though bobbins and thread were a different story).

We've recieved some beautiful pieces of bunting from all over the world.  Here's what we've got (with the added incentive of a kitty at the end):

Genaro and Aline, Sarah's Brazilian friends from the Uni

Leandro (Argentina)

Sarah's Kiwi Pandi: Katie says "I did the one with all the sexy men on it!!! And the feathers!!! and the one with lots of circles lol.  random as."

Rob's sister and best woman, Isabel, stitched a beautiful kiwi (New Zealand=Sarah) and unicorn (Scotland=Rob). Well impressive.

Toni and Marta (Spain)

Toby and Ellie (Edinburgh) know how much Rob loves origami.   Toby was Rob's intern (he designed the Oliphant Group logo) and both are good friends.

Sarah's uncle Lloyd is an artiste!

These are from Rob's friend Rudolph and his partner Verena (Germany).  Rudi says "Yesterday we quickly painted a skyline of Zurich and a happy horse, Verena's favourite sporting equipment.  We are really looking forward to seeing you at the wedding."

Edgar Colliander (UK/Sweden), one of Rob's best men and wedding MC, got some workers in his blinds factory to make his sizeable contribution (cheating, though we are quietly impressed).

Rob's school friend, Funke and partner Bjorn (Germany).

The in-law contribution.  Sarah's mum, Susan mostly used offcuts from dresses she had made for Sarah and Amy over the years.  Rob's mum Lynette found a bit of gingham she used to make a shirt for young Robert and stepdad, Manfred, used a tie with little puppies playing with a ball. Adorable.

From Uncle Colin and Auntie Pat Stewart in Samoa

Caro and Rafa Jovel (New Zealand/El Salvador)

Jose and Maria (Spain), Ceci (Spain), Rosalena (Mexico), Agueda and los abuelos (Spain)

Auntie Anna and Uncle Bruce Stewart (New Zealand)

From Sarah's NZ flatmate Tarquin Prince-Pike, friend (and T's bf) Rob Tauva and Tarquin's sister Acacia.

Summer Montacute (US)

Jane Lee (New Zealand)

Sandra Ries (New Zealand/ Denmark)

Chris and Pete Muggeridge (New Zealand)

Sara Maqui and Clem (Spain/France)

From Reuben and Nadine (New Zealand/Edinburgh)

As promised:

Stay tuned for our next decoration installment, table favours :D

Lovingly designed by the Oliphant Group (that's us)
